Ah MAC lipsticks, you can't go wrong with them. When I first got into makeup, all I wanted was to grow my MAC lipstick collection (and eyeshadow collection of course) and they seemed to be having a bit of a moment in the beauty world. In fairness I can see why! For a high end, very good quality lipstick, €20 isn't bad at all. Plus, they have every colour you could ever want in so many different finishes. Seeing as I haven't done a MAC lipstick collection post since March 2014 (such a throwback, check it out here) I decided to fill you all in and update you on my newest editions. I decided to categorise the lipsticks according to finish so I hope you enjoy. I apologise in advance in the very bad application of lipstick haha!
MATTE
Russian Red
When it comes to reds this beauty is my go-to. It is a deeper, blue toned shade that makes your teeth look whiter and doesn't budge.
Ruby Woo
As I prefer Russian Red and I find this to be a bit more drying, it really should be a retro matte finish! This one doesn't get as much wear as I would like, it is a brighter red which I will hopefully get more wear out of in the summer!
As soon as Whirl came out I was very quick to get my hands on it when I was in the states and I have been loving it ever since. It is the ultimate Kylie Jenner, dark nude shade!
Diva
Diva is a burgundy shade which I surprisingly don't get much wear out of unfortunately, there is something about the shade that just doesn't suit me!
RETRO MATTE
All Fired Up
All Fired Up is as MAC describe it, a 'bright fuchsia'. I never thought this shade would work on me but it actually does and it is such a gem in my collection. I picked it up on a whim in Gatwick Airport with some spare pounds that I had boy am I glad I did!
SATIN
Rebel
Rebel is described as a plum colour however in my opinion it looks different on everyone. On some people it can look really pink and on others it can look quite purple so the next time your in MAC you should try it on! The satin finish is quite glossy, not something I usually go for but it somehow works.
Viva Glam 2
I don't have much to say about this one because I never wear it, a pretty shade however lately I have preferred wearing the darker nudes.
AMPLIFIED
Girl About Town
This is a really blue toned pink which just doesn't suit me! The formula is creamy and the colour is really pigmented so I would be interested in trying some more from the amplified formula range.
CREMESHEEN
Creme Cup
What was once described as 'the perfect nude that could suit anyone' doesn't actually suit me! I tried this so many times with a tan and without however it just washes me out. Moral of the story kids, try the lipsticks on before you buy them haha!
MAC lipsticks are available from Brown Thomas both online and in store and they retail at €20!
I hope you enjoyed reading about my updated MAC lipstick collection! Leave your favourite MAC lipstick shade down below in the comments, I'm always looking to add to my collection.
