Military | OOTD

The sun has finally come out in Dublin. Even though it has come to that time of the semester and assignments have started to take over my life, you can't help feel uplifted when it is so sunny, plus Dublin always looks so much prettier! Today I'm sharing an outfit with you that I wore to the Viviscal event last week, which couldn't be less Spring- like.

Even since I bought this shirt from Zara before London Fashion Weekend, I have been loving it. I never really wear shirts but this one just sits really nice and goes with everything. I paired it with my leather look leggings from ASOS and my new favourite bag from Topshop. I then threw on this bandana around my neck from Missguided and it really ties the whole look together.

Don't forget to like my new Facebook page to keep up to date with my latest posts.

I hope you're all having a great weekend!

Let's Discuss EYELASH EXTENSIONS

Wednesday 20 April 2016

Let's Discuss EYELASH EXTENSIONS
Eyelash extensions have been around for years and are no secret in the beauty industry. In the last few months I have seen more and more people get them and have always been so tempted to do it myself. What was holding me back? Well first of all the cost, as a student who is currently saving for my trip to America this summer along with only working 12 hours a week it just wasn't feasible. Second of all I was worried about who to go to, after scouring Facebook and Instagram pages of lash technicians based in Dublin I just couldn't find someone who did them the way I wanted.

Fast forward to about a month ago when I had two weeks off from college, I was working a lot more hours and my birthday was fast approaching. While scrolling through Instagram one day I came across True Lash Extensions Dublin's Instagram page and she provided lashes EXACTLY how I wanted so I decided to write to Louise, the owner, and make an appointment on a whim.
SO WHAT ARE EYELASH EXTENSIONS?
Eyelash extensions is a practice used to lengthen and add volume to your eyelashes by placing extensions on each individual lash. There are several different types however I got synthetic mink lashes, which were individually glued on to each of my eyelashes. Naturally your lashes go through a cycle which lasts about 6-8 weeks and we lose approximately 3 lashes a day so after about two to three weeks you notice thinning, thats when it is time to get them refilled!

WHAT DOES THE PROCESS ENTAIL?
You have to lie down with your eyes closed for about one to two hours depending on your lashes while the technician glues the extensions on to each lash.

MY EXPERIENCE
When I got my lashes done I talked to my technician about what I wanted and she applied both C and D curls to my lashes which I loved. When I left she gave me a leaflet about how to care for my lashes as well as a little spooley that I could use to comb them through. Initially it is a weird feeling having long lashes but after a few days you get used to them and forget you even have them on. For me they started thinning out in the week before I got them done but I think they could have lasted longer if only I took care of them better. A few careless times taking off my makeup and touching them too much may have resulted in them falling out quicker. All in all though I'm so happy with them and I'm hooked!

TIPS& ADVICE
  • Don't use waterproof mascara and in my opinion, don't use mascara at all! (only on your bottom lashes if needed)
  • Avoid touching or rubbing your lashes.
  • Comb through your lashes every morning and evening.
  • Don't use oil based products around the eyes.
  • Don't use eyelash curlers.
  • DO YOUR RESEARCH! Don't just go to a lash technician because they're cheap, have a look on their Facebook, Instagram, Yelp, everywhere! Look at photos and reviews of their work because you should go to someone who listens to you and provides you with the look you want.
I went to Louise from True Skin Lash Dublin who is based in Stepaside just off the M50. Be sure to check her out on Facebook and Instagram if you're based in Dublin and are looking for your lashes done, she knows her stuff and she's lovely!

I have made a Facebook page for my blog so feel free to follow me there if you're interested!

Have you ever gotten eyelash extensions?

MAC Lipstick Collection | 2016

MAC Lipstick Collection | 2016
Ah MAC lipsticks, you can't go wrong with them. When I first got into makeup, all I wanted was to grow my MAC lipstick collection (and eyeshadow collection of course) and they seemed to be having a bit of a moment in the beauty world. In fairness I can see why! For a high end, very good quality lipstick, €20 isn't bad at all. Plus, they have every colour you could ever want in so many different finishes. Seeing as I haven't done a MAC lipstick collection post since March 2014 (such a throwback, check it out here) I decided to fill you all in and update you on my newest editions. I decided to categorise the lipsticks according to finish so I hope you enjoy. I apologise in advance in the very bad application of lipstick haha!

MATTE
Russian Red
When it comes to reds this beauty is my go-to. It is a deeper, blue toned shade that makes your teeth look whiter and doesn't budge.

Ruby Woo
As I prefer Russian Red and I find this to be a bit more drying, it really should be a retro matte finish! This one doesn't get as much wear as I would like, it is a brighter red which I will hopefully get more wear out of in the summer!

Whirl
As soon as Whirl came out I was very quick to get my hands on it when I was in the states and I have been loving it ever since. It is the ultimate Kylie Jenner, dark nude shade!

Diva
Diva is a burgundy shade which I surprisingly don't get much wear out of unfortunately, there is something about the shade that just doesn't suit me!

RETRO MATTE
All Fired Up
All Fired Up is as MAC describe it, a 'bright fuchsia'. I never thought this shade would work on me but it actually does and it is such a gem in my collection. I picked it up on a whim in Gatwick Airport with some spare pounds that I had boy am I glad I did!

SATIN
Rebel
Rebel is described as a plum colour however in my opinion it looks different on everyone. On some people it can look really pink and on others it can look quite purple so the next time your in MAC you should try it on! The satin finish is quite glossy, not something I usually go for but it somehow works.

Viva Glam 2
I don't have much to say about this one because I never wear it, a pretty shade however lately I have preferred wearing the darker nudes.

AMPLIFIED
Girl About Town
This is a really blue toned pink which just doesn't suit me! The formula is creamy and the colour is really pigmented so I would be interested in trying some more from the amplified formula range.

CREMESHEEN
Creme Cup
What was once described as 'the perfect nude that could suit anyone' doesn't actually suit me! I tried this so many times with a tan and without however it just washes me out. Moral of the story kids, try the lipsticks on before you buy them haha!

MAC lipsticks are available from Brown Thomas both online and in store and they retail at €20!

I hope you enjoyed reading about my updated MAC lipstick collection! Leave your favourite MAC lipstick shade down below in the comments, I'm always looking to add to my collection.

Off to the Ball | OOTN
About two weeks ago I got to go to my college Business Ball! Even though I don't study business, I'll say yes to any chance I can get to dress up in a fancy dress and go out with my friends. As I had such an amazing time at my Debs (I can't believe it was so long ago though) I couldn't resist going to this, especially because I already had a dress.

Yep, I bought a dress back in September that I had no occasion for. What was I thinking? Well to be honest my mam pressured me into it but I'm very happy she did. This amazing dress is from Needle & Thread (no longer available unfortunately) however I got it on ASOS.  Needle & Thread have some amazing dresses so if you have an occasion coming up I'd seriously recommend them! I got my bag from ASOS too and my shoes were just nude heels from Missguided that I got years ago
.

I hope you enjoyed this post, life has been so busy lately but I have so many exciting posts planned very soon. In the meantime, keep up to date with me by following my Instagram (michelledalyxx) and Snapchat (michellealicex, snapcode is in the sidebar)!

Boohoo Press Day | OOTD

Boohoo Press Day | OOTD
Last Tuesday the sun was shining and what better way to appreciate that than to check out some new clothes for Spring and Summer. I got to attend the Boohoo SS16 Press Day which was filled with trendy festival wear along with some beautifully tailored pieces for every occasion. I'll leave some pictures down below of a few of the clothes from the day.

As for me, I wore my black Topshop Jamie Jeans as well as my usual ASOS chelsea boots and my new Topshop top. My favourite part of the outfit had to be this coat from H&M that I got a few weeks ago. On the topic of H&M, they now ship to Ireland! The day has finally arrived where we can get our hands of the glorious H&M Home range (aka a bloggers dream). I also wore my Kylie Lip Kit in True Brown K for the first time out and about and its safe to say that I LOVE it. The colour is so vampy and despite it being the Springtime, I can't wait to wear it to death over the next few months!
